Inclusive by design, not by default

Gender diversity is growing faster than most of our spaces have kept up with. More people in our workplaces and networks are identifying outside the binary, yet our support systems, networks and events still operate within a binary system. When they look at attending a conference for women, for example, they're often doing mental gymnastics trying to figure out if that invitation extends to them. Many decide it's safer to assume it doesn't.

That's a big loss. For them, and for everyone else. 

Tamara, someone who has personally done those mental gymnastics more times than they'd like, talks about what happens when we design spaces on autopilot. Why some women still don't feel at home in women's spaces. Why non-binary and gender-diverse people often fall through the gap entirely. And why a few deliberate choices in how we design, name, and frame our spaces can change who feels genuinely welcomed rather than just technically permitted.

This is a conversation for people leaders, HR professionals, business owners, and anyone who runs events, networks, or support communities. If you care about the culture you're building and you want to make sure the door you think is open actually feels open, this one's for you.
