March 2010 Dinner Meeting

Gretchen Hanley and Claire Dower, Investment Advisors, Craigs Investment Partners

Women live longer, their careers are often interrupted to care for family concerns, and they tend to be more conservative about investing. Although their objectives are often the same as men’s, the investment needs of women are often very different.

Three years ago, Gretchen & Claire created Women’s Wealth which provides free educational seminars on a broad range of investment topics for women.

The driving force for the creation of Women’s Wealth was from their experiences of helping women after a divorce or death of a partner, finding these women with limited knowledge on how to protect and grow the investments now in their control and increasingly the victims of bad advice.

Women’s Wealth is also about providing knowledge to women who are completely new to investing and to break down the myths and fears often surrounding investing whilst also having some robust debate along the way.

Women’s Wealth has now spread to a number of Craigs Investment Partners branches and has run seminars on a broad range of topics from Investment Basics through to investing in Private Equity.

Gretchen Hanley
Gretchen joined Craigs Investment Partners as an Investment Advisor in April 2005. Prior to this she spent two years in Hong Kong as a financial planner. The previous seven years she spent in Sydney, as a Global Markets Dealer and a Private Client Adviser at Ord Minnett.

Gretchen regularly presents share market updates for TV1 Business Breakfast and the 12pm news bulletin.

Claire Dower
Claire joined Craigs Investment Partners in April 2005. Prior to this she lived and worked in London for seven years. After four years in the IT industry she entered investment banking and discovered her new found passion for the finance industry. She moved back to New Zealand in 2003 and worked at ASB in the Treasury Settlements Department before joining Craigs Investment Partners.
